Description
What you'll do:As Director, Credit Trading, you will play a central role in managing a sophisticated buy-side portfolio within the Central Credit Unit.
- Manage and deliver appropriate returns on the Central Credit Unit portfolio by optimising balance sheet utilisation through buying and selling various spread securities.
- Identify opportunities in the spread bond market across different asset types that meet return hurdles while minimising risk and maintaining portfolio diversity.
- Oversee end-to-end portfolio management including execution, booking, pricing, mark-to-market (MTM), and timely credit risk management.
- Monitor and manage rates risk within the portfolio, considering total rates exposure across credit trading activities.
- Assist in developing and executing strategies for optimal financial resource management such as leverage, funding, and RWA to maximise return on tangible equity (ROTE).
- Risk-manage non-linear interest rate exposures using economic hedging techniques to protect portfolio value.
- Generate value by capturing medium-term ranges in dollar rates through dynamic adjustment of swaps within the FVOCI book.
- Conduct macroeconomic analysis and develop models for tracking key variables relevant to credit trading decisions.
- Perform detailed credit analysis on specific credits and structures as well as broader market trends; apply ABS and Ginnie Mae knowledge where applicable.
- Create signalling tools and fair value calculators to support trade idea generation across sovereigns, credit instruments, and mortgage-backed securities.

Your background includes successful tenures in front-office or buy-side roles where you have demonstrated sound judgement in balancing risk against potential returns. You possess advanced technical skills related to fixed income products such as bonds, loans, credit derivatives-and are adept at conducting thorough analyses that inform strategic investment choices. Your interpersonal abilities enable you to connect with colleagues from varied cultural backgrounds while supporting communal goals through effective collaboration. You are committed to upholding high standards of governance by ensuring all processes comply with regulatory requirements. Furthermore, your willingness to share knowledge makes you an invaluable resource for training team members on best practices in portfolio management.
- At least five years' experience in portfolio management or principal risk-taking roles across credit or rates markets within the banking industry.
- Demonstrated track record of success in front-office or buy-side investment positions with proven risk-taking capabilities over several years.
- Strong commercial judgement paired with acute risk awareness enabling informed evaluation of risk-return tradeoffs for investment decisions.
- Experience with structured credit products or mortgage-backed securities is highly desirable for this role.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills combined with cross-cultural sensitivity to foster effective collaboration among geographically dispersed stakeholders.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams including business units, risk management professionals, compliance officers, and operational leaders.
- Technical proficiency in market/liquidity risk management as well as financial concepts such as yield curves.
- Deep understanding of credit derivatives products including bonds and loans alongside fixed income analysis expertise.
- Commitment to maintaining rigorous governance standards through accurate trade booking, report sign-off processes, and adherence to internal/external regulations.
- Ability to train team members on practical aspects of investment portfolio management from booking trades to pricing and risk assessment.
