Haverford College invites applications for our full-time (37.5 hours per week), exempt, benefits-eligible Budget Analyst opportunity.
Total Compensation
- Salary: Salary range begins at $69,500

- Work Location: This position will be eligible for a hybrid work schedule, pursuant to the College’s Work Location Policy.
About the Position
The Budget Analyst supports the development, monitoring, and analysis of the College’s operating and capital budgets. This entry-level role works closely with campus partners to ensure budgets are accurate, aligned with institutional priorities, and supported by clear financial data. The position is ideal for someone with strong analytical skills who is interested in the opportunity to learn the institutional budgeting and financial planning process in higher education.
Primary Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing annual operating and capital budgets
- Support cost center managers with budget submissions and updates
- Compile and review budget data for accuracy and completeness
- Monitor budget-to-actual performance and identify variances
- Prepare standard and ad hoc financial reports for departments and leadership
- Analyze historical spending trends to support planning and decision-making
- Maintain budget data within financial systems (e.g., Workday)
- Assist in developing and updating budget reports and dashboards
- Ensure data integrity and consistency across reports
- Assist departments with budget-related questions
- Provide guidance to non-financial staff in understanding budgets and reports
- Partner with Finance, HR, and other administrative offices on budget-related matters
- Identify opportunities to improve budgeting processes and reporting tools
- Support implementation of new systems, tools, or procedures
Line of Report: The Budget Analyst reports to the Director of Budget and Planning.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business or a related field

- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality in dealing with sensitive information
- Ability to work in large datasets and maintain attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with financial systems (e.g., Workday) or reporting tools
- Interest in higher education finance or nonprofit budgeting
- Internship or other experiential learning experience in finance, accounting, economics, business, or related field
