POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT:
Grand Canyon Conservancy (GCC) collaborates with the National Park Service (NPS) to support the implementation of high-quality projects that benefit Grand Canyon National Park. As a vital part of the project team, the Project Accounting Manager administers all financial elements of each project as well as projects collectively. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Project Accounting Manager ensures that projects are accurately forecasted and budgeted, and that all funding sources and costs are appropriately recorded and reported. The position acts as a vital financial liaison between project managers, operations teams, and finance staff, including the Controller, Chief Operating Officer, Park Projects Manager, and other stakeholders whose roles intersect in support of shared GCC and NPS initiatives.
The Project Accounting Manager expresses a strong interest in project accounting and management and has a proven ability to monitor and support projects from inception to completion. The position also requires close attention to GCC compliance with NPS cooperative agreements; experience with procurement processes and reviewing contracts; strategic problem-solving skills; and monitoring project budgets, deliverables, timelines, and reporting.
This is a full-time, exempt/salaried, benefit-eligible remote position. Limited travel for meetings at the South Rim of the Grand Canyon and/or Flagstaff, AZ, may be required on an episodic basis, for which GCC temporary housing and office space would be provided, with advance notice for scheduling. This position will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Duties vary with the workload and could include, but are not limited to, the responsibilities listed below:
Budgeting and Forecasting
- Collaborate with project managers to create project budgets, forecast project spending, and monitor cash flow.
- Track project costs, analyze variances against budgets, and identify potential risks.
- Provide insight and analysis of budget to actual differences.
- Prepare annual estimates of project expenditures for the upcoming year to be included in the annual budget.
- Develop, monitor, and regularly update cash flow forecasts at the project-level and consolidated level.
Project Accounting and Support
- Support the Park Projects Manager and Projects and Contracts Specialist with vendor and third-party relationships, including contracting, compliance, bids, internal approvals, and financial monitoring.
- Serve as the primary owner of all project accounting details and records.
- Transition project-level accounting reports from Excel spreadsheets into the NetSuite system.
- Initiate projects within the accounting system and utilize the system's fund, project, and grant reporting mechanisms to account for and report on all project activities.
- Review and submit invoices, ensuring that supporting documentation is appropriate and complete.
- Ensure proper coding for project expenses in accordance with both GCC policies and U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

- Participate in the annual audit process by providing reports and supporting documentation.
- Actively seek and execute opportunities for process improvement through automation or other means.
Financial Reporting and Analysis
- Prepare and provide detailed weekly project-level reports to GCC and NPS stakeholders.
- Prepare and present recurring financial reports, key performance metrics, and consolidated project financial results for executive leadership.
- Provide general ledger detail reports or other ad hoc reports as requested.
- Participate in team meetings and serve as the primary resource for all financial matters relating to GCC and Park projects.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- 5-7 years of progressive project accounting experience as obtained through similar professional roles, and a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related business field; note: advanced degree and/or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation may be applied in part to offset minimum level of professional experience or academic achievement.
- Demonstrated advanced knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and cost control principles.
- Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections.
- Experience with automated financial and accounting reporting systems; significant experience with NetSuite preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of non-profit accounting and restricted funds, including knowledge of State and Federal financial regulations and experience with 501(c)(3) requirements.

TOTAL COMPENSATION
This is a full-time, exempt, benefit-eligible position. The target hiring salary for this position is $90K annually. WORKING CONDITIONS
- This position is predominantly sedentary office work requiring long periods at a computer, performing repetitive tasks such as data entry.
- Ability to work evenings or weekends on a limited basis as needed for special meetings.
