Description
About this role:Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Credit Risk Officer to support the rationalization, development, and ongoing maintenance of Wholesale Credit Policy content for businesses. This role is responsible for strengthening credit risk governance across lines of business by ensuring content aligns with regulatory expectations, the bank's risk appetite, and Policy Management requirements. The successful candidate will serve as a subject matter expert on complex lending topics, lead cross-functional policy roundtables, build stakeholder consensus, and develop clear, actionable credit policy content that are easily understood and consistently applied by credit professionals and business partners. This position requires strong communication, facilitating, influencing, and policy-writing skills, including the ability to present recommendations and gain alignment from Group Senior Credit Officers and business-aligned policy partners.
In this role, you will:
- Lead complex initiatives including those that are cross-functional with broad impact
- Review and analyze complex strategies, programs and policies with a direct and significant impact on credit risk appetite
- Ensure policies align with regulatory expectations, risk appetite, and governance standards
- Serve as a trusted advisor and subject matter expert on credit risk topics as well as policy governance
- Exercise independent judgment while developing the knowledge to understand function, policies, procedures, and compliance requirements of supported businesses
- Collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues and managers to resolve issues and achieve goals
- Interact with internal and external customers
- Collaborate with business for oversight of risk management
- Interact with Audit, Legal, and compliance on risk related topics
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of Credit Risk experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
Desired Qualifications:
- Broad wholesale credit experience within a large, regulated financial institution.
- Solid understanding of Wholesale Credit Underwriting
- Strong policy-writing capabilities
- Current or prior delegated credit approval authority, including approval of complex credit transactions and provision of effective independent challenge.
- Experience in credit policy development and governance.
- Demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders and build consensus through clear, disciplined credit risk communication.
- Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive enterprise-wide consistency in credit risk management.
- Prior management or senior leadership experience, including leading teams or enterprise wide, cross functional initiatives

Pay Range
Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to demonstrated examples of prior performance, skills, experience, or work location. Employees may also be eligible for incentive opportunities.
$139,000.00 - $239,000.00
