We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as an Investment Director, Asia-Pacific Private Credit.
In this role you will:
- Lead the origination, diligence and screening of corporate-, family- and financial sponsor-backed private credit opportunities for the Fund to invest in across Asia-Pacific
- Lead detailed credit assessment and opportunity analysis via financial modelling, downside and recovery analysis, sector and country research, ESG and structural risk assessments
- Structure and negotiate transactions - working on tailored covenants, security packages and innovative instruments that are typical of Asia-Pacific private credit transactions
- Draft clear, persuasive investment memoranda for presentation to the Investment Committee, taking the lead in key decision-making forums and engagements with senior portfolio managers and key stakeholders
- Monitor portfolio positions and market developments, including early-warning analysis, amendment discussions and, where relevant, workout or restructuring situations
- Take the lead and coordinate Investment, Product and Sales teams in the preparation of pitching materials, RFPs and investor and market engagement activities
- Build and develop effective working relationships across HSBC Asset Management, HSBC Bank, investors, borrowers and other key 3rd party market participants
- Coach junior team members to ensure sharing of best practices and continued technical development on modelling, credit analysis, legal terms, etc
To be successful you will need:
- Extensive experience gained in private credit, leveraged finance, structured finance or similar
- Proven track record of mid-market lending experience and working with corporates, family-backed businesses, promoters and financial sponsors
- Excellent commercial acumen and awareness, including of economic, cultural, procedural and regulatory issues
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a proven ability to build strong working relationships with all stakeholders
- Ability to evidence relationships with mid-market corporates, family-backed businesses, promoters, financial sponsors and advisers
- Excellent communication skills - including written, verbal, and the ability to deliver compelling presentations to people at all levels within the business
- Excellent analytical skills - including working with financial models and an understanding of the fundamentals of investment appraisal
- Excellent time management, planning and organisation skills
The chosen candidate for this role will be required to undergo enhanced vetting. Subject to local laws, this will require the individual to satisfactorily pass a series of additional checks as part of the recruitment process and on an ongoing basis, if appointed to the role.
