Accounts Payable Officer Needed for a Permanent Opportunity in Sydney CBD with a Leading Legal Firm Your new companyJoin a highly respected global law firm renowned for its strong reputation, innovative thinking, and commitment to exceptional client service.
Your new role
As the Accounts Payable Officer, you will take ownership of a busy end-to-end AP function within a professional services environment. You'll work closely with internal partners and external clients, acting as a brand ambassador while ensuring the smooth and accurate processing of all AP operations.
What you'll need to succeed
- Manage the full end-to-end Accounts Payable function
- Maintain the AP system including vendor set-up, invoice entry, online approvals and payment schedules
- Allocate and post invoices using upload functionality
- Allocate costs to correct GL accounts
- Process expense claims, ensuring appropriate coding, approvals and policy compliance
- Proactively manage payment cycles to meet supplier terms
- Reconcile supplier statements, credit card transactions and petty cash
- Investigate and resolve unpaid invoices and manage the AP inbox
- Collaborate with internal teams and suppliers to resolve queries
- Identify opportunities to enhance AP processes and efficiency
- Support Trust accounting functions during leave periods
- Manage over 150 suppliers and approximately 250 invoices at any given time
- Assist with ad-hoc project work as required
- Minimum 2 years' experience in Accounts Payable within professional services (legal or accounting preferred)
- Strong understanding of AP principles and best practice
- Intermediate Excel skills and solid working knowledge of Microsoft applications
- Experience with Aderant Expert (highly desirable, not essential)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail, organisation, and the ability to work under pressure
- High level of stakeholder management capability
