The High School Bookkeeper keeps our school's finances running smoothly and accurately. This role manages everyday school money, keeps spending within budget, and ensures we follow all district and state rules. They oversee money for both general school operations and student-led Associated Student Body (ASB) clubs and sports.
Handling Money & Payments: Collects payments, manages event setups in point of sales system, and makes sure all money is deposited every day.
Purchasing & Spending: Helps staff and clubs buy what they need by creating purchase orders (POs), review vendor invoices, and maintain check out and reconciliation of credit card purchases. They also make sure all ASB student club spending is officially approved by the student council.
Organizing & Record Keeping: Keeps careful records so our school passes official financial audits. This includes tracking account balances to prevent overspending, checking fundraiser totals, and filing club constitutions and meeting notes.
Reports & Budget Balancing: Reviews monthly bank statement, double-checks account balances to fix any errors, and prepares regular financial reports for ASB clubs and sports.
Supporting Students & Staff: Works directly with teachers, advisors, and student leaders to teach them how to manage club budgets and follow spending rules.
Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent.
Skills to use computers and accounting applications, maintain records, apply basic accounting practices.
Knowledge of basic accounting practices, problem solving methodology, and modern office methods.
Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time, think logically with attention to detail, prepare clear and accurate reports. Significant physical abilities include reaching/handling/fingering, talking/hearing conversations, near visual acuity/visual accommodation.
